Construction and Humidification Details

The finest cigars in the world are grown, dried and rolled in naturally humid environments. Our cigar humidors are organic and designed to replicate that environment in order to maintain and properly mature your finest cigars.

Quality Hardwood Construction. First, we hand pick and match from an amazing selection of premium hardwoods. Look at an inexpensive piece of furniture and notice the wood joints on a panel. You’ll see many pieces of wood, haphazardly glued together, with the grains going in all directions. When you purchase a quality piece of fine furniture such as a Paul Humidor, the panels of wood are painstakingly matched and seamless joined. Correct humidity is required for perfect cigar storage. However, moisture and wood don’t always go hand in hand. So, after fabricating each hardwood humidor body, we completely seal all wood inside and out, prior to interior fit-out. We also create a vapor barrier to insure that the internal environment never breaches the structural aspects of the humidor. Dovetail joints are used where ever possible and all joinery is old-world quality.

Functional Interior Design. Only true Spanish cedar, with its high humidity absorption capacity, ensures that a stable climate is maintained within the humidor. It supports the cigar aging process, has a positive effect on flavor and protects against mold. All of our interior Spanish cedar is acclimated prior to use, to minimize any post construction movement. When you fire up your humidor, the wood inside is already at home. Our cigar drawers are crafted using Spanish cedar hand woven bottoms. We create a perfectly porous cigar drawer. In a lesser humidor, for ventilation, slots or holes are cut out and that results in dry spots inside the drawer. With our drawer design, as with all of our humidor interiors, there are no humidity anomalies. Each and every cigar will be in a perfect environment and no rotation is required. We have also designed in a proprietary door seal system that requires no weather stripping. Full extension drawer glides and 170-degree self-closing hinges ensure the convenient and elegant access you should expect with quality furniture construction.

Habitat Monitor® Digital Humidification System. Once you have created the perfect housing and functional interior design, of course you need to integrate a state-of-the-art computerized, calibrated accurate humidification system to create the perfect blend of form and function. We build into all of our Cabinet Humidors - The Habitat Monitor, Precision Climate Security System. This system is individually calibrated using equipment and techniques that are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Testing (NIST). It is a precise, digital hygrometer and thermometer which continually measures and displays humidity and temperature on an easy-to-read LCD. The Habitat Monitor also features a memory system to keep track of minimum and maximum readings, and is user-programmable.
